Become an in-home tutor where you will work one-on-one in the home of the student (or at a local library) and make a difference in the life of a South Carolina student today. We are always accepting applications. You do not have to be a Certified Teacher to apply. While we certainly welcome those who have been trained to teach, we also have a place for those who just love to help others. (High school diploma is the minimum educational requirement).
What subjects do clients request? Math is without a doubt the top-requested subject area, especially Algebra I and higher. All Sciences, with Chemistry and Physics topping the list, are frequently requested. Next come Reading and Writing at all age levels.
And then our clients request anything and everything: History, Foreign Languages, Computers, Art, Music, Special Education, Study Skills, Test Preparation (especially ACT and SAT), or anything else with which they need assistance. So, where do your interests lie? What is your area of expertise? What can you share with a South Carolina student?
When you apply, let us know when and where you’d like to work and we will do our best to accommodate your request.(Please note that tutors living in the Charleston area will not be asked to tutor in the Columbia area and vice versa.) Tutoring is a flexible job, so if your schedule of availability changes, just let us know and work around any conflicts. Also, there are no time commitments. You can stay registered from school year to school year or you can tutor for just a short period of time. You can sign up to tutor year-round or take the summers off. You can tutor only on weekdays or include the weekends. It’s up to you.
